Classroom Environment as the Third Teacher
The classroom environment sets a safe and welcoming atmosphere for the children. The environment is set up to inspire children’s learning and thoughts. Teachers intentionally build on the wall displays which showcase children’s unique work and ideas. This encourages the learners to share and understand other’s perspectives and to inspire their creativity. Displaying of children’s work in class also reflects the respect for their work and ideas, which helps the learners gain confidence in showing their work to others.
We include a variety of materials and activities in the learning centers to promote children’s interest, independence and active engagement in learning. These enhance children’s development in various learning domains (Physical, Intellectual, Language, Emotional and Social) and reinforce their learning. As such, the classroom environment serves as the third teacher for the children.
